Enterprise Content Filter
nsEnterprise provides effective, flexible filtering through a series of Internet-connected
servers that access one of the largest URL databases of any IP filtering provider.
IM2Filter houses most of the filtering technology in secure and redundant locations,
so your organization needs to set up as little as a single IM2Filter Server. As
your company grows, nsEnterprise can be easily scaled to keep up with increased
demand on your network.
The three main components of nsEnterprise are the Policy Server, which manages each
user's Internet Use Policy (or Acceptable Use Policy); the Reporter, which handles
employee monitoring; and the IM2Filter Gateway Filter which intercepts traffic,
asks the Policy Server whether it should allow or block the content, and carries
out the allow or block ruling.
How the Gateway Filter works
The IM2Filter Gateway Filter intercepts outgoing Internet requests. Each filter
has the ability to handle up to 45 Mbit/s of Internet traffic while communicating
with the IM2Filter Policy Server for each request.
The IM2Filter Gateway Filter can be considered a “black-box” software solution
that is installed on a dedicated server. Its primary function is to intercept outgoing
Internet traffic requests and then send these requests to a locally installed Policy
server. The Policy Server's role is to ensure that the requested URL or Protocol
is appropriately classified and then either allowed or denied.
Although, the Gateway Filter is the most commonly deployed method of intercepting
and blocking traffic, IM2Filter also offers a wide range of 3rd party device support .
nsEnterprise users can also use the Desktop Filter to protect remote computers and
laptops that roam in and out of the network.
